At Barford St Peter’s we follow the twinkl spelling scheme. This scheme follows the statutory requirements for each year group through spelling rules or punctuation objectives. There is opportunity for children to revise the rules learnt at the end of each half term.
Form year 1, children are set spellings to practise on a Thursday. These are then tested on a Tuesday in school.
Some children are also set spellings on the Nessy programme. This programme encourages the concrete learning of spellings for children who have dyslexia or need extra support with spelling patterns. It is embedded in the core principles from the science of reading.
