I am delighted to be able to confirm that we have booked our class trip to Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway, WWII EVACUATION EXPERIENCE at Winchcombe Station on Tuesday 21^st April 2026.

 

This trip will be a special opportunity for Year 6 to experience a World War II evacuation.

The children will be taken back in time to 1940 for a glimpse into wartime life.  The experience will include a Steam train journey to the ‘safety of the countryside’.

 

We are asking for a non-refundable contribution of £30.67 per child this will cover travel by coach and the Steam Railway experience. Please make the payment of £30.67 before Friday 3^rd April 2026 via ParentPay. Unfortunately, if we do not receive enough payments to cover the full cost of the trip it will be cancelled and all money paid will be refunded.  If you are experiencing financial difficulties in covering the cost of this trip, please write to us in confidence to request support at admin3587@welearn365.com prior to Friday 3^rd April.

 

You will also need to give your consent for your child to take part in this visit via ParentPay by Friday 3^rd April.

 

On the day, children will need to dress in 1940s style, with an identity label, gas mask box

And a suitable wartime lunch. Children may also wish to bring a single toy eg. teddy bear.

 

For the girls, you can either use a pinafore dress or a white shirt and a grey skirt or it can simply be their school uniform, with a knitted cardigan, knee length white or grey socks and black/brown school shoes. To finish the look, hair in plaits with a cotton hat or beret. Boys can also wear their school uniform or long shorts with long socks. That can be paired with a white top with either a cotton tank top jumper or a blazer. And if you have one a Peaky Blinders style flat cap.
